THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite the thrust being given by the State Government to e-governance, an initiative to provide online information relating to government departments to the public has been hit owing to the lack of cooperation from almost all the departments.

The State Government had directed all the departments to give a copy of all important government orders, circulars and other information relating to the departments to the Information and Public Relations Dep a r t m e n t (I&PRD) so as to post it on the government website, www.kerala.

gov.in.

However, even after repeated reminders from the I&PRD over the last couple of years, most of the departments are not providing the necessary information to update the official portal.

Sources at the I&PRD said that Transport, Personnel and Administrative Reforms and Labour departments are the only ones providing information regarding them promptly. Information relating to the I&PRD are also being updated on the website promptly. “We had sent repeated reminders to all the departments which are not providing the information.

Even then, the majority of the departments are not showing any interest in providing copies of Government Orders and circulars,’’ sources in the I&PRD told `Express.’ The I&PRD officials are now managing to get the copies of Government Orders and circulars of other departments by themselves and are trying to maintain the website updated to the maximum possible extent. However, many important Government Orders and circulars could not be obtained, sources said.
